It was a nail-biter, but we saw it! Unbelievable experience: harried morning chasing weather around the Faroes--fierce rain, wind, clouds. But I found a promising area high above a fjord and settled in with a great group of international eclipse enthusiasts and some locals on the far west side of the islands. Partial eclipse of the sun from Fleet Moss near Hawes, Yorkshire Dales National Park. The maximum phase of the eclipse has just passed and the clouds are thickening. Captured with a Canon 5dmk2 with a Sigma 170-500mm zoom at 500mm. The vignette is a natural effect caused by the small aperture and fast shutter speed. The colours are enhanced slightly but are natural, the result of the light being refracted through the clouds.
